Orthotics are special inserts created to address specific issues with your feet or ankles or with the way you walk (your gait). The orthotics can be made of leather or synthetic materials and will be created specifically for your feet, so they fit comfortably and work to correct the problems you're experiencing. Custom-made orthotics can be used to relieve pain and pressure, prevent friction and alter the way your foot moves so you have improved balance as you stand and move.
Custom-made orthotics are just that – custom-made – and that means they're designed just for you, as opposed to the devices you can buy in a store which are designed for the population at large. Even inserts referred to as “moldable” or “custom” in-store displays are not nearly as effective as the orthotics made by an orthotics specialist and molded to your foot shape and for your individual needs.
Plus, custom-made orthotics are also much more durable and are designed to retain their shape, unlike store-bought products that can wear out quickly as a result of continuous pressures.
Orthotics can be designed to address a broad array of issues, including bunions, so-called flat feet and “fallen” arches, as well as gait problems like pronation that can result in pain in the feet, legs and even your lower back. Orthotics can also be developed to address congenital deformities, amputations, and other structural issues.
That depends on the type of insurance coverage you have. To determine coverage, ask your plan administrator or ask our office staff to check for you.
They are basically custom-made footwear made to a patient’s exact needs and foot specifications. The main goal of this custom-made footwear is to improve a patient’s gait so that their feet absorb the pressure and weight in a way that is healthier and more functional. This entails crafting footwear that gently forces feet to change the way they move, resulting in less pain.
Foot pain — Custom-made orthotic shoes help relieve pain caused by a number of foot ailments. Plantar fasciitis, for example, causes great pain in the heel area and affects about 2 million Americans annually.
